Most certainly, I could not say that I am the person I have become today without the influence of numerous outside sources and their role in my growth. Weither positive or negative, all of these forces have molded me into exactly who I am. My mom and dad started this process the day I was born. They have taught me right from wrong, and set a basic foundation that I could feel stable building the rest of my life upon. Music is something that I couldn't live without - it helps me express my feelings, and has helped me develop my emotions into something tangible, like sound and lyrics. The countless stories and books I have read in my life have given me a sense of imagination and developed the ever-present "writers voice" that is always running through my mind. Playing sports, especially softball, have taught me self discipline and respect for others who also work hard to do well at something they love. My religion shapes every action of my daily life. I would venture to say my belief in God is what shapes me the most, because I fall back on this every day and align my actions with the guidelines I have learned through my religious experiences. The media is an example of a negative force that has changed who I am. Because I see the many diluted and radical viewpoints that are expressed, I have learned to educate myself on issues before forming an opinion. The people that I met at a Congressional Youth Conference have shown me that I enjoy to be in public speaking roles, a piece of me I would have never discovered without their help. My friends are a huge part of my life, one I could not do without. They inspire me to live happily and enjoy every moment that I have with them. My Grandparents have pushed me to do they things they know I am capable of, even when I did not believe in myself enough to try. The world around me as a whole has acted as a force in my life, because I find that I am consistently and unfailingly inspired by the beauty of the world around me. All of these things have had and continue to play a role in who I am, and helped me to become the person I am today.

Paige,
I agree with you saying music as influenced you to be who you are, as it has done the same for me. It helps a lot with emotion and expression, sometimes I don't know where I'd be without it. I am also strongly influenced by my friends and they've helped make me who I am. Your story about the Congressional YOuth conference was really interesting and I can see how that can influence your life. Your point about the negative forces in the media was really interesting and I didn't think of that.

Paige,
We are very alike when it comes to the influence of music on our lives as it's something that I couldn't live without either. It's an outlet for your emotions basically. I also see what you mean with the negative influence of the media. News sources nowadays can sometimes have radical viewpoints which cloud our judgment, but it's promising to hear that you've recognized this and are educating yourself.

Candide Reflections

(It won't save with a name! This is Candide Post #3, 1/4/12)
Paige,
I think it is wonderful that your main Character is very optimistic. This proves true with my Main character in Three Cups of Tea as well. This is a very good trait to have because if you have optimism, than that paves a way for determination as well. I really enjoyed reading your first post. You are very descriptive in your analysis.
